Pillow Dances (2014-2016)

Kiera appears in various hotel rooms across various states, and Laura appears in an indoor dance studio and outdoors among trees and grass.

The shadow of Kiera’s head falls on the projected wooden studio floor under Laura, who is seated.

Pillow Dances was a collaborative movement practice with and through chronic physical and mental illness and late capitalist exhaustion. Laura Harris Farrell, Angelina Marriott, and I regularly cooked together, ate together, were in pain together, and engaged in kitchen scores, living room scores, bedroom scores, outdoor scores, studio scores, and writing scores that took cues from our sick and/or in-pain bodyminds. We had an informal studio showing at Gibney Dance Center in 2015 and a performance curated by Lark Morgenstern of 133 Design Collective (776 Lorimer Street) in 2016.
